Thiruvananthapuram/ Bengaluru: UST, a provider of AI and digital transformation solutions, successfully concluded the GenCyS 2025 CTF (Capture the Flag) competition at its Thiruvananthapuram campus.
The nationwide contest was designed to nurture the next generation of cybersecurity talent, attracting more than 1,000 registrations from students and professionals across India.
GenCyS 2025 CTF Finale Showcases Top Cybersecurity Talent
This year’s GenCyS 2025 CTF challenged participants with real-world cybersecurity problems across multiple domains, including Web, Forensics, Cryptography, OSINT, IoT, Boot to Root, AI Challenge, and Reverse Engineering. After rigorous preliminary rounds, the top 50 teams advanced to the onsite finale at UST’s campus.
SRM University Wins GenCyS 2025 CTF Grand Prize
Team Abu, represented by Abdur Rahman from SRM University, Tamil Nadu, emerged as the winner of the GenCyS 2025 CTF competition. The team was awarded a prize worth ₹1.5 lakh – comprising ₹1 lakh in cash and ₹50,000 in gift hampers – along with a conditional job opportunity at UST.
The first runner-up, Team BirdsAreNotReal from TCS (Vishnu AR and Sai Teja), received a cash prize of ₹70,000, while Team NullByteNinjas from Poornima University, Rajasthan (Mohit Singh Papola and Krrish Bhurani), secured the second runner-up spot with a prize of ₹30,000.

UST Leaders Emphasize Cybersecurity Innovation
Speaking about the event, Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global Head of Development Center Operations at UST, said the competition reflects the company’s commitment to cultivating future-ready cybersecurity professionals through hands-on learning and innovation.
Muraleekrishnan Nair, Global Head of Cloud Infrastructure Services and Managing Director of CyberProof, UST, added that cybersecurity lies at the heart of digital transformation and praised the competition for enabling participants to tackle authentic, industry-relevant challenges.
Other senior leaders, including Nitin Kalra (Chief Information Security Officer), James Dasher (Global Head of Cybersecurity), and Adarsh Nair (Director & Global Head – Information Security Compliance), were also present at the finale and award ceremony.
GenCyS 2025 CTF Held Alongside Global Conference
The GenCyS 2025 CTF finale coincided with UST’s Global Conference, which featured over 20 international speakers and drew more than 1,000 participants. The dual events further enhanced UST’s presence in the global cybersecurity ecosystem and reinforced its collaboration with industry partners.
